This charismatic bird is one of Sundalands
most well-known, but most difficult species, its
closest relatives are the Rockjumpers from Africa!
Bornean Banded Pitta
Endemic to Borneo, one of the four endemic
pittas on Borneo and occasionally seen on
our Sabah tours
Demoiselle Cranes
Up to 8000 of the majestic cranes
congregate around the village of Khichan
on our West India tour.
Roti Boobook
This soon-to-be-split species has been
seen by very few birders except for those
on our recent Lesser Sundas tours.
White-tailed Rubythroat
A beautiful summer visitor to Sichuan and
Qinghai and also a winter visitor to
north-east India.
Crested Ibis
Rediscovered in 1981 when just 7 birds
were found, but today over 1000 birds survive
in the Qingling mountains in China.
White-rumped Snowfinch
A common resident of the Tibetan plateau
and seen on both our Sichuan and Qinghai tours.
Black-backed Fruit Dove
A much under-rated family, but full of colour
and beauty with several endemic species found throughout
Indonesia and the Philippines.
Sumatran Frogmouth
Of the four species of frogmouth possible in
Sumatra, this endemic must be the most bizarre!
Luzon Water Redstart
Restricted to mountain streams on Luzon and
Mindoro. Like most endemics here it's becoming
increasingly rare and localised.

All of our leaders have extensive experience of the birds of the region and have spent prolonged periods exploring all the tour destinations.

2013 tours. New tour report from our mammoth Eastern Himalayan tour and several from the Philippines.

Frank's tours to Laos & Cambodia, and north-east India will be uploaded end of the month.

2014 tours. We still have two spaces available on our Myanmar tour.

2015 tours. It may seem a long way off, but time passes fast and many of our 2014 tours are already looking busy. We have have listed most of our tours, with dates, though these are still provisional at this time, and are gradually uploading the tour itineraries. Please email us for further details.
